A Class for EVERY Body

We’re happy to offer our cOMmunity a variety of classes daily with a schedule that extends from 6am to 8:15pm with monthly special events in the mix. It’s important to us that all classes are comfortable for our students, so class size is limited. Please consider pre-registering online or through the MindBodyOnline app to guarantee your mat space.

Accessible Yoga

This class is founded on the belief that yoga truly is for everyone. Accessible Yoga (sometimes called “Adaptive Yoga”) introduces those living with a disability to the mind-body benefits of yoga. Whether a participant has partial or total paralysis, amputation, a spinal cord injury, arthritis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, a head injury, cerebral palsy, or another disability, the welcoming environment and practical and accessible exercises in this class will encourage people to uncover and recover their wellness.

Note: Props and assists will be used in this class to enhance the experience in postures.
Wheelchair parking is available in our parking lot.

Advanced Power Vinyasa

Challenging. Playful. Empowering.

A challenging and up-leveled physical practice for the yogi who wants to push beyond their comfort zone. Expect to stretch your body and mind in this vinyasa practice with posture variations, binds, arm balances and inversions. Learn to go with the flow, push your edge and evolve your practice.

Some yoga experience recommended.

Align and Burn: Yoga Bootcamp

Invigorating. Strengthening. Transformative.

This high-energy class fuses the fundamentals of vinyasa yoga with elements of strength and endurance workouts to create a perfectly balanced cross-training experience. Expect to use dumbbells, bodyweight exercises and cardio bursts as you tone your muscles, push your limits and have some serious fun! All movements will be done on a yoga mat with bare feet – no shoes needed.

All levels.

Candlelight Vinyasa, Warm

Calming. Fluid. Restorative.

Set to softer music and the glow of candles, Candlelight vinyasa blends a traditional vinyasa practice with an indulgent and restorative wind down to ease every muscle and quiet your mind. Expect to move your body with a gentler flow to begin and complete your practice with an extended cool down, complete with deep prop-assisted stretches and floorwork. The perfect nightcap for your body and spirit at the end of a long day!

Cycling with Rhythm Revolution

We reserve 2 seats in every Rhythm Revolution Cycling class exclusively for members!

Rhythm Revolution asks you to check your head and your heart all at the same time by riding through an intense moving meditations and the ever-changing terrain beneath your feet that’s inspired by and synchronized with BEAT frequency. Take your seat as part of our tribe in this deep sensory experience that revitalizes the mind, body and spirit with every stroke. This dynamic company hosts 45-minute cycling classes in the Fitness in the City Space, as well as transports bikes all over the Denver community for LIVE cycling concerts, featuring different styles of classes, local musicians and artists, and an all-around “kick-ass” fitness experience.

Deep Stretch & Meditation

Grounding. Meditative. Nurturing.

This soothing class includes long holds, supported postures and intentional stretches. All movements are aimed at releasing tension, preventing injury and promoting active recovery. Class will include approximately 15 minutes of seated or supine meditation with some guidance from the instructor. Experience meditation in motion as you nurture your body, mind and spirit.

Inversions Conditioning

Playful. Empowering. Strengthening.

This high powered class is designed to physically and mentally prepare you for yoga inversions and arm balances. Instructors offer modifications and variations of inversion entry and encourage students to playfully push their edge. By combining yoga postures, strength conditioning and repetition, this class is bound to build confidence, strengthen your core and have you upside down!

Class size is LIMITED. Please pre-register to save your mat space.

Micro-Meditation
Sometimes all you need is a 15 minute reset. We invite you to stay after class (or come early if there is a class following this meditation session) to enjoy a “micro mediation”. Offered after our noon classes daily, after our 9am classes Monday-Friday, and after our 5:30pm classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
A micro meditation is 15 minutes of mindful stillness, quite reflect or perhaps an extended savasana. The asana practice is meant to prepare our body mind and spirit for mediation. Commit to completing your practice with a few extra minutes of meditation and see what you discover along the way.
No prior mediation experience is necessary. An instructor will set a timer and ensure the yoga room is conducive to quite mediation. All you have to be… is present. No additional cost to attend.
Power Vinyasa, Hot

Invigorating. Empowering. Transformative.

An invigorating flow class that will strengthen your body, focus your mind and empower your spirit. Instructors are encouraged to bring their unique teaching style, music and personality to this to this class. You will never practice the same sequence twice! Learn to go with the flow, find your edge and practice at your own level.

++++ This class is “prenatal friendly”, meaning the teacher is educated in prenatal yoga and can help you safely modify your practice at all stages of pregnancy.

YogaCross™

Empowering. Challenging. Cross-Training.

A collaborative class between The River and our neighbors at Fitness in the City, YogaCross™ is a dynamic combination of functional fitness and yoga. This two-part class will get your heart pumping and muscles shaking with 30 minutes of HITT training, followed up by approximately 40 minutes of lengthening, strengthening power vinyasa yoga. Elevate your heart-rate, tone your body, and bring balance to mind and spirit. Bring your tennis shoes, water, and a good attitude.

All levels.
Heat: Yoga portion of class is heated to 84 degrees.

Young Warriors Kid Yoga

Yoga is beneficial for everyone and can be used to help improve all elements of life. By the age of 4 or 5 when true independence sinks in, kids can identify how yoga is benefiting them and take their practice off the mat, back into their homes and schools. Kid Yoga is a dynamic class where children learn yoga poses, apply those poses to games and activities, as well as work with the breath. In 60-75 minutes, kids will run the spectrum of energy from fast pace games to relaxing stillness and everywhere in between. These classes are drop off, but parents are welcome to stay if they want to check it out (but parents must play if they stay!)

Accesible Yoga

This class is founded on the belief that yoga truly is for everyone. Accessible Yoga (sometimes called “Adaptive Yoga”)  introduces those living with a disability to the mind-body benefits of yoga. Our amazing accessible team has worked with a wide-variety of participants (ranging from people with paralysis, sports injuries, neurological or muscular limitations, amputations, impaired vision, arthritis, and more) to create an adaptive, healing, and well-rounded class for everyBODY. Align & Burn

This class uses the fundamentals of a vinyasa class with the addition of weights. Combining weights to traditional yoga postures, plus adding cardio bursts, gives students an opportunity to find alignment within their bodies, tone muscle and have fun! Movements are synched to breath which helps with focus and body awareness. Class size is limited. Students need a mat, towel and water.

 

Candlelight Vinyasa Yoga

An invigorating flow class of meditation in motion that will empower and transform you in mind, body and spirit. Taught in the style of Power Vinyasa Yoga in a heated studio with candlelight. Learn to go with the flow, find your edge and practice at your own level.

 

Gentle Yoga (unheated)

Gentle Yoga is a less strenuous flow class consisting of basic asana’s (postures), put together in a conscious, deliberate and secure flow coinciding with the breath. The class pace is designed to be refreshing and provide relief from our daily stresses. Gentle yoga is ideal for anyone who enjoys a more tranquil, slower paced yoga class.

This class is particularly good for those who would enjoy a more hands on approach to their practice and is suitable for beginners, seniors, women who are pregnant, and practitioners recovering from injury. Postures will be broken down, props may be used (blocks, bolsters, straps, etc.) and modifications will be given as needed.

 

Headwaters: A Foundation Yoga Practice

This introductory series is designed to benefit “beginners” as well as those who those who would like to hone in on their yoga fundamentals. Each of the four 90-minute sessions will focus on a key category of postures: Standing poses, backbends, twists and binds, and beginning arm balances. A portion of each session will be devoted to discussion and explanation of alignment principles, modifications and the benefits of each type of posture. We will also discuss some yoga philosophy/history and breakdown Sanskrit and English terminology to demystify much of what makes up a public yoga class.

Class size is limited to ensure students receive one-on-one attention and plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Participants will gain the knowledge and experience needed in order to move confidently and safely in any class.

Inversion Conditioning

We are excited to add this class to our schedule. This class was created for eager yogis who want to take their practice a new level.  Inversion conditioning will help students develop bodily awareness, core strength, and preparation techniques for a deeper practice of inversions and arm balances. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up in advance!

 

Kid & Family Yoga

We are happy to offer Young Warriors classes as the River! Young Warriors organizes yoga classes, camps, and workshops for families and kids of all ages, from tots through teens! Many of the kid classes are offered at a time when the River is simultaneously offering adult yoga classes, making it easy for you and your little ones to spend time on the mat.

 

Power Vinyasa All Levels (heated) 

An invigorating flow class of meditation in motion that will empower and transform you in body, mind and spirit. Taught in the style of Power Vinyasa Yoga in a heated studio. Learn to go with the flow, find your edge and practice at your own level.

The River also offers a discounted Power Vinyasa All-Levels ($5) class as a way of giving back to our community and making yoga accessible to all. Taught by our River Yoga Teacher Training Graduates, this class is an all-levels power vinyasa class. If you’re looking to try out the River before making a financial investment, come to our community class! You’ll get a great glimpse into our community, classes, and the unbeatable atmosphere of our space.

 

Restorative  Yoga (reduced heat)

Restorative yoga is therapeutic style of yoga developed as a tool to reduce the effects of stress related disease. This class is a great way to re-energize your body through gentle stretching and passive poses using blankets, blocks, bolsters as supports. Restorative poses are an important part of any long-term yoga practice: they recharge our energy reserves, heal the effects of stress, and bring our nervous systems into a more balanced state. All levels.

Yoga Cross

Yoga Cross is a dynamic combination of functional fitness and yoga all in one hour. Participants will complete 30 minutes of functional fitness training followed by 30 minutes of power vinyasa yoga. Yoga Cross will elevate your heart-rate, strengthen your body, and bring balance to mind and spirit. All levels welcome. This unique class format is a collaboration between Fitness in the City and The River Power Vinyasa Yoga.
