Charlie Covey
Charlie Covey (he/him) started practicing yoga while he was a student at NYU. He practiced intermittently in his early 20s, and then started to dive deeper into the practice several years after graduating while on his coming out journey. The mat became one of the few places that he could move and breathe in ways that felt authentic to him, without pressure to appear or perform a certain way. Since coming out, yoga and movement have become his greatest tool in maintaining his mental and physical health, and he is passionate about sharing that with his students.
After several years of practice, Charlie decided to enroll in a 200-hour YTT at Y7 Studio in New York City during the winter of 2017. He started teaching classes for Y7, Lululemon and Alo that same year and continued until March 2020. He has taught vinyasa, sculpt, core, and ski conditioning classes over the last 6 years. During the pandemic he received a masters degree in Applied Exercise Physiology from Columbia University. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and he has worked extensively with one-on-one personal training and yoga clients ranging from athletes in their 20s to folks in their 80s.
Charlie’s vinyasa classes are fun, flowy, and challenging with the help of a killer playlist. He emphasizes core strength as the foundation of nearly all movement and creates opportunities for students to challenge themselves mentally and physically. Modifications are not just offered but encouraged in order to create a safe and sustainable practice that can continue over a lifetime.
Though Charlie spent is 20s in New York, he is a Montana mountain kid at heart. He is equal parts outdoor enthusiast and pop culture aficionado. He loves skiing, hiking, and exploring nature just as much as he loves a good Bravo night or a twirl at a concert! He moved to Denver from Whitefish, MT in February 2023, and he is having a blast getting to know his new city and building a community here. Charlie also co-founded One Aether, a wellness events and retreat company. One Aether uses breathwork, movement, and mindfulness to create and deepen connections within community settings.
