Garry Appel

Garry Appel and Yoga found one another many years ago in a hot room on a Sunday in October. Yoga was a natural extension of Garry’s decades-long meditation practice and Buddhist studies. It wasn’t long before Garry and Yoga became constant companions and the relationship has deepened over time.

Garry completed an initial 200-hour teacher training at Samadhi Yoga Center in Denver, a 300-hour training through a well-known Indian Yoga Shala, and has done many other trainings over the years. Garry has been teaching Yoga full-time since the Summer of 2015, when he retired from a 36-year career as a lawyer and Law Professor and has taught thousands of classes of various kinds, including power vinyasa, deep stretch, and meditation, gentle vinyasa, yin, restorative and yoga nidra. He holds the E-RYT 500 certification from the Yoga Alliance. Garry is the author of two books: Learning Yoga: A Beginner’s Step-by-Step Guide and The Great Journey – Unraveling the Riddle of Reality, Self & Soul. Garry regularly leads Yoga and meditation retreats.

Garry is best known for his flowing Vinyasa teaching style and clear cueing. He regularly injects humor into his classes.

Garry is an accomplished photographic artist and his works have been exhibited widely in the Rocky Mountain region. Garry loves to cook, play guitar, listen to music, and travel the world.  You'll find him meditating every morning, working out six days a week, and practicing Yoga nearly every day.
